Take a moment and get to know the members of OLD SCHOOL…

Tenor: Kipp Buckner is a barbershop brat. Kipp joined the Thoroughbred Chorus at the age of 14. His father Ken was one of the directors. Ken also sang with the top 10 finalist Citations quartet and more recently with the 2003 Seniors Quartet Champs The Barons. Kipp's brother Todd sang in a quartet called Tabasco Cats in the 1990's and holds gold medals with the Thoroughbreds and Southern Gateway Choruses. Kipp's mom Hollie has sung her whole life with her sisters so the Buckner family has a rich musical and barbershop heritage indeed.
Kipp is one of the elite members of the barbershop society who have won the coveted gold medal two times. He won his first in 1987 with the Interstate Rivals and the second with The Gas House Gang in 1993. He also holds two gold medals with the Thoroughbred Chorus and one with the Ambassadors of Harmony and several top 5 medals with these choruses along with The Southern Gateway Chorus.
Kipp currently lives in Louisville, Kentucky and works for the Kentucky Board of Nursing. He lives with his beautiful Canadian wife Kimberley and his children Kila and Keegan....and their two dogs Moufette and Louelle!

Lead: "Awesome" Joe Connelly is a proud member and musical director for the Southern Gateway Chorus and a proud member of The Chorus of the Chesapeake and the Easton Chapter, and surely of many others we don’t know about yet. Joe is also a “barbershop brat” and one of his endeavors is still happily singing with his dad in “Way Back When” from the Dixie District. After cutting his teeth while listening to his dad sing baritone in the multi-time medalist quartet the “Roaring 20’s”, little Joe Joe soon began his now famous career. By the way, Joe did make it to his senior prom and has the pictures to prove it. Joe coaches quartets and choruses all over the globe, trying to hone his skills. Who said it can’t be done? Joe has sung in many quartets, most notably the Interstate Rivals - 1987 International Champions, Keepsake - International Champs in 1992, and Platinum - International Champs in 2000. That’s right a three-time quartet International gold medalist.
Joe lives with his wife Gayle in Virginia. |

Bass: Joe "Beast" Krones is yet another “barbershop brat” in this quartet. Joe has the distinction of directing a chorus in which his father, and his son sing. He has been directing choruses since the tender age of 21. The most recent chorus is the West Towns Chorus, where he has been since 2004; he is also doing his share of coaching quartets and choruses. Joe started quartetting at age 16, and since we don’t know much about his prom, it must have been uneventful. Joe is a talented singer, and in 2007 won the District championship in a quartet called “Stolen Basses”. One might guess this means that the quartet was made up entirely of men who usually sing the bass part, and you'd be right. After years of being carried by his Leads, he became one (and he even sang tenor on one song). Happily, in the case of Old School, there won’t be a division of duties in that regard. Joe is a four time Illinois District quartet champion (1995 Renaissance, 1998 Bravo!, 2001 Cheers! and 2007 Stolen Basses) and current MAD quartet champion, and other than his stint at lead in Stolen Basses, he is a Bass Beast. Joe was the famous mega-bass in the 2003 International finalist quartet, Cheers! Joe is currently available for chorus or quartet coaching. |

Baritone: Jack Pinto is a “barbershop brat”. (I bet you weren’t expecting that.) As brats go, Jack truly has that job all sewn up. No one is entirely sure if Jack had a senior prom and no one is asking (you know how those Jersey guys are). Jack directs the Brothers in Harmony from Easton, PA., and coaches quartets and choruses all over the place. Jack is quite talented and is a great “utility player”, having the ability to sing all four parts, and sing them quite well. He has been trying to graduate with his degree in Voice for the past few decades. In the meantime Jack earned a bronze medal with BSQ and has made several appearances on the international stage in quartets and as a chorus director. Jack lives in Hamilton, NJ, at least for now perhaps staying on the move is a good idea. In Jack’s line of work he needs to stay light on his feet. |
